Medvedev earned his ticket to the semi-final by defeating fellow Russian Andrey Rublev in the quarters. The 25-year-old looks to be a strong contender to clinch the championship this year, but has to get two more wins in order to make that a reality.
Daniil Medvedev brought up Karatsev’s dream run at the Australian Open right after his win over Rublev at Rod Laver Arena. “It’s unbelievable I’m so happy for Aslan. He made history. He’s the first one to make semis on his debut, especially at 27,” Medvedev mentioned.
“I honestly don’t know what he did during the pandemic, probably worked harder. So really happy for him you know if we’ll have a Russian final it’s just going to be a dream come true but we both are going to have quite tough matches and tough opponents,” added Medvedev.
