World No.2 Daniil Medvedev failed to defend his title at the ATP Finals 2021. Even though the Russian reached the finals of the tournament yet again, he could not battle past Alexander Zverev there and lost in straight sets. The final scoreline of the match was 4-6, 4-6.

Overall, it has been a great season for Daniil Medvedev. The Russian lifted the US Open 2021 title and even won the National Bank Open 2021.

Daniil Medvedev loses his precious watch during ATP Finals 2021

Surprisingly, Medvedev received a double blow after the finals of the ATP Finals 2021. Not only did he lose to Zverev in the finals but also lost his £168,000 Bovet watch while playing the match.

According to La Stampa, an Italian media outlet, Medvedev’s watch got stolen from the changing area. The Russian player realized this after the match and immediately reported the event to the local police.

After some time, even though the authorities found out the watch, they gave no information to the press. According to some reports, the investigation is still going on.

Medvedev set to lead Team Russia at the Davis Cup Finals 2021

After an impressive season, Medvedev will be playing his final tournament of the year at the Davis Cup Finals 2021. The World No.2 player will be leading his side, Team Russia, at the event which will be kicking off from November 25, 2021, and will extend till December 5, 2021.

Interestingly, Russia has drawn with Spain and Ecuador in Group A of the tournament. Even though Spain is the defending champion, Russia has the capability to make its way through to the quarter-finals easily since Spain’s star player, Rafael Nadal, is not playing at the event this year.
