Daniil Medvedev won the National Bank Open last week in Toronto. The Russian defeated Reilly Opelka in a tight final and claimed his maiden title in Canada. However, the World No.2 will be aiming to add a maiden Grand Slam title in his cabinet.

Daniil Medvedev came really close to clinching the 2019 US Open title. However, the left arm of Rafael Nadal was a barrier between him and his maiden Grand Slam title. However, Medvedev can be certain of a few things this year, one being Nadal not playing at the US Open.

A series of big names have withdrawn from the tournament due to injuries and other reasons. It gives a great impetus to Medvedev’s campaign who has been in red hot form. “When I play good in New York, I can get good results, and of course, yeah, I want to win it,” said Medvedev.
