With just one step away from the title glory both Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev came into the tournament with high hopes. With form by their side, they were expected to put up a show in Melbourne. However, the odds were heavily favouring the Italian sensation due to his recent triumph over the Serbian Novak Djokovic. But, Medvedev had some other plans in mind and proved to be a tough force to deal with.
Reflecting on the same, the head coach of Coco Gauff, Brad Gilbert came in and showered his views. While the coach heavily praised the Russian superstar for his outstanding gameplay at the finals of the Australian Open, he also sparked his words of concern for the young Italian player.

In the Australian Open final between Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev, coach Brad Gilbert was amazed by Medvedev’s unexpected brilliance. Gilbert pointed out that every time Sinner served, Medvedev played exceptionally well, causing trouble for Sinner. Not only this, but he also suggested that Medvedev has been playing some great tennis and that nobody expected it to happen.
With Medvedev winning two sets in a row, his outstanding performance surprised everyone, even the experts who analysed the game. “Every serv game Sin city in trouble full credit to Meddy playing huge no one saw coming especially analytics,” said Gilbert in his tweet.

Thus, Coach Gilbert’s comments suggest how Medvedev’s exceptional play became the standout moment of the finals. While everyone was hoping that Sinner would be the dominant force in the game, it was Medvedev who took everyone off guard.
With just a set away from victory now, he will be eyeing the second grand slam of his career. The Russian superstar, despite winning many major titles does not have much grand slam success to his name. So far, he has managed to lay his hands on only one title. That was back in 2021 when he managed to defeat the likes of Novak Djokovic and win the US Open title.
