“It’s a big responsibility for sure, to be a father,” Daniil Medvedev said, referring to his daughter last year. Medvedev’s life underwent a transformation in October 2022 with the arrival of his daughter, Alisa. Since then, the tennis star has been juggling his professional commitments with the joys of fatherhood. While New York City gets ready for the upcoming U.S. Open, last year’s runner-up of the event, Medvedev is hoping to add an extra dose of motivation to his corner: his daughter!

Often accompanied by his wife, Daria, and their young child on the tennis tour, Medvedev is acutely aware of the challenges his family faces. Despite the demanding schedule, he cherishes every moment with them, finding solace in stolen glances during matches and expressing gratitude for their unwavering support. Now, as Medvedev is getting ready for a fightback in the U.S. Open, his mighty superfan has arrived in the Big Apple to support her father and also capture the hearts of the audience!

As per an X video, Alisa will soon join his father in the practice session before the last Grand Slam of the year, encouraging him to win his career’s second grand slam! In the video, we can see Alisa already setting up her tent (with her doll) inside a hotel room, with her own racquet, as her mother captures the sweet moment on her camera! A few hours ago, a similar video was posted by Daria on her Instagram Story.

A happy Alisa is giving off a vibe that she is there to stay a long time as her father, the 20 ATP singles title winner, strives to win his first title of the season! But this is not the first time. Earlier this year, Daria and Alisa were also present in the hard-court swing in the USA as Daniil Medvedev made it to the finals in Indian Wells and the semifinals in the Miami Open. Moreover, we saw her cheer for her father in the Madrid Open, grabbing the attention of fans and his father during the match.

Besides, her presence made Medvedev quite happy, as his eyes often wandered into the audience to find Alisa. There’s no doubt that we might find a similar scenario in the US Open as Medvedev tries to regain his power after an opening-round loss in Cincinnati. However, earlier, Medvedev shared his fatherhood struggles in an interview,

Following his QFs defeat in the Australian Open earlier this season, Medvedev opened up on his personal life, signifying that being a father might not be everyone’s cup of tea. He shared how he handles sleep deprivation with a toddler at home. Recalling a disastrous attempt at first, Medvedev later admitted, “That’s a big problem. I go there to sleep with my daughter and at first, I am very cautious. Then I sleep and wake up at 9, and she is not there. My wife does all the job at night.”

Moreover, in a different interview, Medvedev also stated how fatherhood has impacted his goals in tennis. “As a player, I don’t think (fatherhood) has changed me, to be honest. But hopefully, it helps me mature a little bit. Many times I’m still immature on the court, but I feel like I’m improving slowly every year. That’s my goal.”

By embracing his role as a devoted father and tennis superstar, Medvedev inspires a new generation of athletes and parents. And his upcoming US Open campaign will surely be one more memorable event in his tennis diaries in this regard!
