Ever since Roger Federer called time on his illustrious career, the Swiss maestro has become a true ‘family man.’ During his busy tennis career, he couldn’t spend much time back home due to his hectic schedule. However, the 20-time Grand Slam champion is trying to compensate for it and recently, he took his family to the Coldplay concert. While Federer and the crowd were singing and dancing along to the tunes of Coldplay, his sons looked rather uninterested. This led to mixed reactions from the fans, as their video went viral on social media.

Federer has had a unique connection with Coldplay. He shares a great bond with one of the members of the band, Chris Martin. Last year, the Swiss maestro even performed with Martin at the Zurich concert and fans witnessed a different side of Federer. Like his tennis skills, the 42-year-old rocked the stage while performing with Coldplay and he had the ‘time of his life there.’ His performance was so impressive that the band wrote on social media, “You were flawless on the shaker, Roger. Is there anything you can’t do?!”

This time around, Federer and his family attended Coldplay’s Rome concert. It comes days after the former world no. 1 made an appearance at the ongoing Wimbledon Championships. However, it looked like the Swiss maestro’s sons didn’t particularly enjoy the concert and probably missed the action at the grass-court Grand Slam tournament, as their faces revealed the tale. Their uninterested reactions went viral on social media and the fans had mixed views on what led to Federer’s sons not enjoying the Coldplay concert.

Other than the Coldplay concert, there is intriguing sporting action taking place across the world. While the Wimbledon Championships has entered its business end, the 2024 European Football Championship is at a similar stage. Amid this, Roger Federer opted to attend the concert in Rome. Many fans felt that Federer’s sons were missing the sporting action, which could be one of the reasons behind their uninterested looks. One of the fans took to X and revealed what Federer’s sons might be saying to the Swiss maestro, “Dad, take us back to Wimbledon.”

Similarly, another fan suggested that instead of the Coldplay concert, the Federer family should’ve been attending the Euro semifinals. On the other hand, a section of fans pointed out that the lack of privacy could be a major factor because of which Federer’s sons didn’t enjoy the Coldplay concert.

Roger Federer is a globally renowned athlete and is widely followed wherever he goes. However, on certain occasions, it causes a lack of privacy and one of the fans hit out at the crowd there, saying, “Maybe because there is someone 2 meter away from them filming them…. Why can we not let these people do their thing..” Another Twitter user voiced a similar concern and commented, “There’s someone literally recording at their face, I don’t think that would be exciting for anyone.”

While Federer may be used to the camera following him wherever he goes, his children are still young and not used to many public appearances. As a result, when people were recording them at the Coldplay concert, they looked uncomfortable as one fan suggested, “Maybe having cameras shoved in front of them might have something to do with it.”

Nonetheless, Coldplay compensated for it as they dedicated a song to Federer. “Who’s that handsome guy? Roger, my lovely friend, the greatest tennis player of all time. You are great at sports, but you are also good and lovely,” the band sang in unison as it brought back the smile on his children’s faces.
