Sickness is an unfortunate and annoying reality of life. We always seem to get ill at the most inconvenient times. For American player Taylor Fritz, the situation seemed to be the same. Fritz faced his compatriot Tommy Paul in the Mexican Open and lost the three-set match. Losing the match was not the only issue for Fritz. He also felt sick during and after the match, which led to a long night for both the American star and his girlfriend. Morgan Riddle recounted the incident on her Instagram story.
Fritz and Paul faced off in an epic clash in the Mexican Open. Paul won the first set, which gave him a huge advantage and put him on track for victory. Although Fritz won the second set, Paul claimed the victory after he won the third set tiebreak.

Fritz was down by 5-6 in the second set when something went awry. He stopped mid-serve and ran around the court, looking for something to throw up in. The umpire pointed to a bucket while Fritz was running around holding his mouth. Fritz did the needful before returning to the baseline and continuing the game.
Fritz and his opponent were both looking exhausted during the entire match and even Tommy Paul had to take a break.
An update was given by Fritz’s girlfriend, Morgan Riddle, after the necessary medical check. She posted a picture of Fritz and explained the situation in the caption of her Instagram story. She further added that Fritz was feeling this way since the match, but he was too proud to give up.
“After he got sick on court last night we were up until 4am with the tournament doctors. He couldn’t keep any food down, chills, severe dehydration, full body cramping and almost had to go to the hospital. So scary. He is too stubborn to default and pushed himself too hard. These high humidity tournaments are no joke. Sad way to end the week but so proud of the few weeks and excited to get to Indian Wells,” read the story on Morgan Riddle’s Instagram.
