21-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal is arguably one of the greatest players in the history of tennis. Many young players from both ATP and WTA look up to him as their tennis idol. A very few get the chance to share the court and practice with him. Well, Japanese player Taro Daniel can count himself lucky, as he recently shared the court with Rafa. Recently, he shared a post on his social media, thanking the great Spaniard.

Taro Daniel practices with Rafael Nadal

Pretty much all the top players are getting ready for the next big clay-court tournament at the Madrid Open. 29-year-old Japanese tennis player, Taro Daniel, also getting ready for the Madrid Open after a decent Serbian Open. 

During his time in Madrid, the Japanese player has been practicing with Rafael Nadal at the Rafa Nadal Academy. In a recent Twitter post, Daniel Praised Rafa, as he had one of the best experiences of his life. “I’ve been practicing with Nadaru for 3 days @rnadalacademy! At this point it was the best experience I couldn’t afford to buy with the number one player in history… Thanks a lot @Rafael Nadal for these days of training and @rnadalacademy for letting me come! An incredible experience,” he wrote on Twitter. (Google translate)

Meanwhile, Taro Daniel has been playing quite well on the tour. Earlier at the Australian Open, he beat Andy Murray to shock the world. Recently, at the Serbia Open, he reached the quarter-final, where he lost to the eventual winner, Andrey Rublev.

Earlier, we saw a few videos where Nadal was practicing. After suffering a rib injury at the Indian Wells, he flew back to his home to recover. Since then, he missed big tournaments like Monte Carlo and Barcelona Open.

Now, the Madrid Open will be a big test for the Spaniard, as he’s making another comeback from an injury. Previously, he won this tournament five times and will look to grab his 6th title in the capital of Spain. In the meantime, his arch-rival, Novak Djokovic, is also playing in the Madrid Open, who is looking to find his form after an unpleasant start to 2022.
