Right from the days when Nick Kyrgios stepped into the world of professional tennis, he hasn’t managed to keep himself out of controversies. The year 2022 came as a major hindrance in his career. The year brought him several charges of verbal abuse and unsportsmanlike conduct. The Australian athlete kept himself away from the season’s tours because of a knee injury. However, he does not cease to catch attention over different grounds.
Caught up in a recent series of tweet rumbles against Daniil Medvedev fans, the Australian athlete appears to switch his tone this time. Nick’s sudden show of “respect” towards the Russian Star, after their previous feud, caught the attention of social media.

In a recent interview at the ATP tour’s “Build Your Player”, Daniil Medvedev provided the characteristics that make up a perfect tennis player. While creating his best tennis persona, he listed several big names who he has competed with. Despite enjoying a fickle relationship with Nick Kyrgios after the Australian defeated him at the US Open last year, the list included his name.
While Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic made spaces in the list that he presented, the Australian athlete secured a place too. On being asked about the player with the best serve, Medvedev said, “Serve, I go with Kyrgios! Especially for his height, he has one of the best serves ever, and Nick, regarding height, power that he has, and the precision, is probably the best.” He also included himself when the conversation moved to speed as a parameter.
As the interview emerged on social platforms, Nick’s responses to the Russian’s words seemed contrary to his usual tone. This potentially indicates an end to their feud.
From resentment to respect: The Medvedev and Kyrgios feud reaches an end
Tennis fans always know Nick Kyrgios to be a controversial magnet in the world of tennis. Be it on or off-court, his controversies somehow make their way to the news. Despite being out of tours due to his knee surgery, the Australian has not discovered the art of subtlety. Nevertheless, he hummed a different tune when Medvedev included him on the aforementioned list.
