World No.1 Novak Djokovic recently made history at the Wimbledon Championships 2021 as he won his 20th Grand Slam title. He defeated the Queen’s Club Championships 2021 winner, Matteo Berrettini, in the finals in four sets to clinch the victory. The final scoreline of the match was 6(4)-7(7), 6-4, 6-4, 6-3.
Even though Berrettini lost the finals, he played quite well and earned a lot of respect from fans. It was his first Grand Slam final, and he certainly fought like a warrior.
In a recent Instagram story, Serena Williams’ coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, lauded the Italian player. It was about a year ago when Berrettini won the first edition of ‘Ultimate Tennis Showdown’- a tennis tournament founded by Mouratoglou.

Mouratoglou posted a picture of Berrettini on his story and wrote a beautiful caption after his incredible run at the Wimbledon Championships 2021.
“One year ago today, Matteo Berrettini won the first edition of Ultimate Tennis Showdown. Yesterday, he was in the final of Wimbledon,” wrote Mouratoglou in his Instagram story.
Mouratglou is certainly impressed with Berrettini’s incredible performance at Wimbledon 2021.

In the same story, Mouratoglou congratulated the Italian superstar for his terrific run at Wimbledon and on the grass swing of the season as a whole. Interestingly, he enjoyed an 11-1 win-loss record on grass in 2021.

“Congrats ‘The Hammer’,” added the French Coach.
Fans often call Berrettini ‘the hammer’ because of the power he generates in his shots.

With a run to the final of the most prestigious tournament in tennis, the weight of expectations will only increase for Berrettini moving forward. Fans of the Italian will also now expect and want him to continue playing like this in the upcoming tournaments as well. It’ll be intriguing to see if he manages to enjoy the same success in the hard-court season.
