It is back-to-back heartbreak for the former World Number 1, Carlos Alcaraz. After a disappointing US Open campaign last year where he failed to defend his title, the Spaniard has tasted defeat at the Australian Open too. Alcaraz gave his all but couldn’t get past Zverev. With the disappointment of the defeat still fresh, he had to go through another round of unfavorable circumstances.

As soon as the match was completed, the Spaniard proceeded to the post-match press conference. During the interview, Carlos Alcaraz was spotted with a white tape on the inside of his elbow. This tape indicated that he might have had doping tests after completing the match against Zverev. It was quite a rare moment to spot anyone with such clear marks during interviews.

Doping tests at the tournaments have been a common feature according to the guidelines of the World Anti-Doping Agency. Following the global bodies, tennis has its own body named the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) which monitors any positive doping cases and provides rulings in those matters.

Meanwhile, Alcaraz has been a victim of such strange incidents before as well. During the US Open last year, he was seen taking some mysterious pills during a changeover. This happened during his match against Daniel Evans. This raised eyebrows of fans and many were suspecting as to what those pills were.
