Carlos Alcaraz has been in greater demand than ever since his second consecutive at the 2024 Wimbledon. While it sounds perfectly fitting for the Spaniard to be a sportsperson if not a tennis player, the young talent recently made a surprising revelation about his alternate choice of career.

The 21-year-old has taken the tennis world by storm. He announced himself a force to be reckoned with after pocketing his maiden US Open title in 2022 and concluding the season as the youngest year-end World No. 1. Following his recent SW19 triumph over 24-time Major champion, Novak Djokovic, Alcaraz reflected on what his life would be like had he not pursued a professional tennis career.

While talking in a Spanish interview, the 4-time Grand Slam champion was presented with a series of unusual questions targeting his life and preferences. During the questionnaire, he was queried regarding his choice of career if not a tennis player. To much surprise, Carlos Alcaraz responded by saying that he would’ve liked seeing himself as a lawyer.

The Spaniard’s intriguing choice stemmed due to his liking for a popular TV Show, ‘Suits’, which aims at captivating its audience with the workings of the legal world. “Lawyer, because of the series that I watched and loved, but I never really thought about it you know. But, well, it’s to say something (laughs),” he clarified. The comments section of the post saw fans in disbelief because it’s rather impossible to imagine a free flowing athlete restricted to a formal courtroom environment!

It is worth noting that Alcaraz isn’t the only player on the ATP Tour who fancies himself with the idea of becoming a lawyer.

Notably, earlier this year, Australian tennis player Alex de Minaur voiced a similar choice, highlighting his interest in law. “It’s probably got a lot to do with watching ‘Suits,'” de Minaur told ATP Tour in May. “I don’t know how I would go with all the studying. If I could get away without the studying part, then I’m sure I would choose to be a lawyer.”

While Alcaraz added, “After watching it, I was like, ‘If I wasn’t a tennis player, I’d love to be a lawyer.'” It is no surprise that the World No. 3 shares an interest outside the world of tennis. Subsequently, the Spaniard also revealed the movie that motivated him to win his first Grand Slam title.

During a conversation with radio channels ‘Cope and Cadena Ser‘, the former World No. 1 mentioned that he watched the movie ‘300’ on the eve of the event’s summit clash. Notably, this movie helped motivate him and made him “come out like a bull” during his encounter with Casper Ruud. “The day before the final, I watched the movie ‘300’ with my brother. In the final, I came out like a bull.”

Alcaraz will be next witnessed in action at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Moreover, he will be teaming up with Spanish tennis legend Rafael Nadal for the doubles event at the Games. The highly-anticipated event is set to commence on Friday, July 26.
