Carlos Alcaraz breaking promises for Paris Olympics—Is this youthful passion or reckless ambition?

Carlos Alcaraz can do no wrong at the moment, can he? The Spanish tennis sensation won yet another Grand Slam title, defeating Novak Djokovic in the summit clash of the Wimbledon Championships yesterday. It was his fourth major trophy and he became the third youngest player to do so. Shortly after capturing his second Wimbledon title, Alcaraz revealed that he might break a promise made to his parents and would do it again if he succeeded at the Paris Olympics.

The Spaniard has followed a tradition to get his body inked after winning a Grand Slam title. However, his parents didn’t like the idea and Alcaraz convinced them by saying that he would only get his body inked for each of his maiden trophies at the 4 major tournaments. Alcaraz’s parents agreed to this and Alcaraz got a tattoo after winning the US Open title in 2022. He got the date of his victory inked, “11.09.22” above his left elbow.  Additionally, he also added the letters “CCC,” which denoted his grandfather’s motto, “Cabeza, Corazon, Cojones,” which translates to head, heart, b*lls on his left forearm.

Further, after his Wimbledon victory last year, Alcaraz tattooed a strawberry and the Championship date, “16.07.23” near his right ankle. However, Alcaraz intends to ink his body again after winning another Wimbledon title. Additionally, he will also have a tattoo done if he achieves success at the Paris Olympics, as revealed by him recently.

During an interview with Marca, Alcaraz was asked if he would tattoo the Olympic rings if he climbed the podium in Paris. Replying to the question, Alcaraz said, “Without a doubt, the rings and the date Paris 24, one hundred percent.”

Alcaraz is already planning a tattoo of the Eiffel Tower after winning his maiden French Open title last month. While he convinced his parents the first time around, Alcaraz will have to wait for permission from them if he is to ink his body for winning the Wimbledon title.

Carlos Alcaraz to discuss with his parents for a new tattoo

The Spaniard’s parents have been a massive pillar of support for him, backing him throughout his career. Additionally, they were present during Alcaraz’s victory over Djokovic yesterday, and the Spanish sensation gave them a warm hug after his victory. Alcaraz has always followed the ideals and values taught by his parents and as a result, will wait for their permission to get inked for clinching the Wimbledon title.

Alcaraz revealed, “Probably I’m going to put the date of this one next to last year’s. I have to discuss with them. The Eiffel Tower one, I didn’t do it yet but I will for sure. This one, I have to talk with them. A little one I can hide.”

Alcaraz will celebrate his Wimbledon victory with friends and family back home. He has no major plans for an outing to celebrate, with a busy schedule coming up for him as he eyes success at the Paris Olympic Games.
