“I don’t have a girlfriend, but I’m looking for one,” Carlos Alcaraz revealed last year, talking to Spanish outlet ABC. Lately, the Spanish tennis star has been rumored to have a chemistry with various WTA stars. So far, he’s been linked with the likes of Iga Swiatek, Maria Gonzalez, and even British tennis sensation Emma Raducanu. In addition, he’s also amassed a massive female following, thanks to his phenomenal on-court performances and looks. But the sad part? He’s still single, waiting to have someone in his life. However, it doesn’t mean he never had his experience of that one special, loving moment – the first kiss. But when did it happen?
The former World No.1, has been competing at the ATP Rotterdam this week. He’s now reached in the semis and will step on the court on Sunday for a spot in the final. Along with him, other tennis pros like Matteo Berrettini and Stefanos Tsitsipas also participated in the event. But they were ousted early in the R32 and the QF round, respectively. Apart from tennis, the ATP stars also engaged in a “tournament tradition” at the event.
It was basically a questionnaire where several players, including Alcaraz, had to answer curious questions about their personal and professional lives. Among them was also one involving their “first kiss” moment.

For Berrettini and Tsitsipas, it happened at age 12 and 21. For Alcaraz, it came, “When I was 15 years old.” But do you know what else happened during his first kiss?
It’s a tournament tradition that @Jan_Kooijman discusses some… interesting topics with our stars every year. 😉

Last December, interacting with comedian Andy Lee on the edition of “The Hundred,” Carlitos admitted that he also used his tongue while kissing. Well, that’s quite an interesting revelation, isn’t it?
But anyone who’s ever been in love or got a kiss must have had a heartbreak too. Turns out, the Spaniard is no exception. So what did he do when he had his first breakup as a teenager?

When Carlos Alcaraz revealed his true emotions on first heartbreak
While he hasn’t clarified it yet, the Spaniard is said to have a long relationship with his childhood friend and WTA player Maria Gonzalez Giménez. However, it seems things didn’t work out between the two at a young age. During an interview with Vogue, in 2023, he shared his experience from the time when his heart got broken. So how did he cope with the sadness?
Explaining his tough moments, Carlos Alcaraz revealed, “I was a bit all over the place. I didn’t control my emotions well. I got really pissed off. When I was 15 or 16, I threw my racket around quite a bit, or I’d break one. And that put my game at risk. So I knew I had to improve in that respect.”

Then last year, in July 2024 while talking to The Sunday Times, he also reflected why it’s tough to find his special someone. Citing a hectic professional life, involving constant trips, the former World No.1 said, “It’s complicated, never staying in one place. It’s hard to find a person who can share things with you if you’re always in different parts of the world.”
