After facing a master strike back at the Shanghai Masters, Carlos Alcaraz has said bye to the tournament. While his fans are not happy with the early defeat he faced in the tournament, there is someone in the tennis world who is fairly pleased with his absence from the event. It is none other than Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer.
But why would the 20-time Grand Slam champion feel great to not have the 20-year-old Spaniard around? Recently, Federer displayed his cheeky side while sharing a locker room confession as he took center stage during the Shanghai Masters, despite his retirement.

Federer, who retired last year, was honored at the ATP 1000 Tournament in China with the Icon Athlete Award. After that, the 42-year-old Swiss legend went on a tour of the stadium, recalled memories from his active tennis days, and met some players, including Andrey Rublev.
Along with that, he also hilariously shared how he got his locker room back from another former world number one, Alcaraz, during his ongoing Shanghai Masters visit. He said, “I heard Alcaraz staying in my locker room this year. But as he’s not around anymore, I got it back. I’m sorry for him, but I’m happy to have my old locker room again.”
Federer got some of his cheeky side to Shanghai, as he dissed the 2023 Wimbledon champion, still, it’s all fun & games from the master of the Grass courts & even Alcaraz may not mind it. It’s all because of the fact that the 20-year-old faced a third-round exit from the tournament against Grigor Dimitrov.

During his visit, he also recalled the final tournament clash he had in 2017 after coming back from a knee injury. He recounted, “I thought I played extremely well in that match. I felt like Rafa was a little bit banged up with his knees and maybe a bit tired, but I played a fantastic tournament in a fantastic year in 2017 when I came back with my knee problems.”
He also highlighted how that was an absolute dream year for him, and it was the last time he won the Shanghai Masters title. In addition, he also shared his emotions from that time regarding how happy he was to win the final against his arch-rival.
