Is Carlos Alcaraz setting a new standard for how athletes should treat their fans?

Carlos Alcaraz can do no wrong at the moment, can he? A fan favorite, the Spanish sensation is on cloud 9 after winning the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. He defeated the 24-time Grand Slam champion, Novak Djokovic, in the summit clash to clinch his 4th major title, becoming the third youngest player to do so, leaving behind the likes of Rafael Nadal and Andre Agassi. Owing to his massive rise in the tennis world, Alcaraz has gained huge popularity across the globe. Earlier today, the 21-year-old displayed a kind gesture that is sure to win him more fans.

After clinching the Wimbledon title, Alcaraz is gearing up for the Paris Olympic Games. The four-time Grand Slam winner was involved in a practice session earlier today, as he looks to acclimatize himself on clay courts. A video of him is currently doing the rounds of social media where Alcaraz can be seen going out of his way to make the day of his fans. After his training session, the Spaniard climbed the bench that was kept near the fencing. He did this so that he could greet his fans and even let them capture some glimpses of him.

This is not the first time we have seen Alcaraz making a heartwarming gesture for his fans. Earlier this year at the Madrid Open, he made the day of a young fan by signing an autograph for him after his match. This turned the young fan emotional as he lived the best day of his life. Owing to such acts, American legend, Jim Courier, felt that Alcaraz could revolutionize tennis. Additionally, his impressive form has got him a step ahead of the rest of his rivals.

Earlier this month, Courier was involved in a conversation with Lindsay Davenport and Brett Haber on the Tennis Channel Live podcast. During that episode, he praised Alcaraz’s Wimbledon heroics, while making a huge revelation about him.

The 53-year-old said, “And we thought that, you know, players this young would struggle given the physicality of men’s tennis, but he broke through that one is a team we hadn’t seen that for quite some time. But there were eras when Bjorn Borg and Mats Wilander and Boris Becker were winning multiple majors as teens and Alcaraz is kind of picking up that baton not as winning his teens but winning a lot early. ”
