Carlos Alcaraz has seen great triumphs on the tennis court this year. At the US Open, the 19-year-old earned his maiden Grand Slam title. The Spaniard won 52 of the 62 games that he participated in. His US Open victory also shattered several records, becoming the youngest ever player to be ranked world number one at the age of 19.

The young sensation won the tournament in Flushing Meadows after defeating Casper Ruud in the deciding match. Notably, he also became the youngest Grand Slam champion since compatriot Rafael Nadal in 2005. He won two Masters 1000 championships in Madrid and Miami, in addition to the US Open crown.

After becoming the world number one, the Spaniard made it to the TIME 100 Next. The 19-year-old is the only tennis player to make it to the list.

Thanks to his outstanding performances this year, the 19-year-old is now Spain’s most successful junior player after 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal. The US Open champion has won six ATP tour titles till now.

Carlos Alcaraz will compete in the Astana Open next in Kazakhstan. Numerous tennis legends like Novak DjokovicDaniil MedvedevJannik SinnerAndrey Rublev, and Stefanos Tsitsipas will compete in the event.

The Spaniard recently represented his country in the Davis Cup and took Spain to the quarter-finals of the tournament. To reach the final knockout stage of the tournament, the 19-year-old took the lead and defeated South Korea’s Kwon Soon-woo. However, he then lost to Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime.

The ATP 500 event will be Carlos Alcaraz’s first tournament after rising to the top of the world rankings. Additionally, seeing his US Open form, he will likely be one of the favorites to win.
