Carlos Alcaraz's Eiffel Tower tattoo: A bold move or a youthful whim? What do you think?

“It will be on the left ankle, the Eiffel Tower, and today’s date!” said Carlos Alacarz after the historic win at the Roland Garros. Tennis fans awaited the moment when he would carry the symbol of Paris, the celebrated Eiffel Tower. And their wait has finally come to an end! The king of the Grass Court, the prince of the Clay Court, and the threat at all the Slams, has finally fulfilled his wish. Though it would have taken a lot of convincing from the 21-year-old to get a yes from his parents!

It seems after winning Grand Slams back to back, Alcaraz finally got some time on his hands. The young Spaniard used the ‘Ganga tattoo’ to get his memorable third slam immortalized on his leg. And true to his words, Alcaraz immortalized his memorable third slam on his leg by placing the Eiffel Tower on his left ankle with the date, 9/06/2024 beneath it. In a recent story on his Instagram, Alcaraz shared his new tattoo with fans. One shared this update as he tweeted the words of the tattoo parlor on his X account:

The background story of getting the symbol of the city of love follows the exciting clay slam finale. The French Open finale had everyone on the edge of their seats. Their favorite, Alcaraz, was down 1-2 after 3 sets and the German tennis star, Alexander Zverev, was just a set away from his first clay slam.

However, the blazing-hot Spaniard turned the tables as he claimed the 4th set, before dominating the decider and winning the Grand Slam. With this win, he became the only player to win a Grand Slam in all three courts. A tough match leads to a deserving win and terrific celebrations!

However, it wasn’t his first tattoo. The Spaniard has his first US Open, Wimbledon already engraved on his body. But the tattoo wasn’t the only celebration he had planned after his 3rd Grand Slam win. What followed immediately was a trip to Ibiza with his friends. Though most of the tennis fans celebrated his win, some questioned his trip.

“Those little gateways to Ibiza”- how Carlos Alcaraz rejuvenates to avoid burnout

Have an interesting take?

Though Alcaraz is seen as a successor of Rafael Nadal, in the legend’s own words, he is better than the Big 3 individually. “He is a threat to all the Grand Slams,” said Nadal. However, with every win, pressure compounds, as tennis fans anticipate exciting clashes and their favorite to win. While it’s lovely to have the support of tennis fans away from home, however, this leads also to extra pressure. And playing back-to-back Grand Slam on different surfaces is not easy. Hence, little gateways in the middle seem the right way to remedy the stress.

When Alcaraz went to Ibiza some tennis fans thought he was doing something wrong. However Alcaraz said, ““Well, I am very clear that in the end people also work for something… I don’t want to feel like a slave to tennis and not have time for myself. And those “Little getaways to Ibiza,” I think it is fundamental and very necessary to then perform and come back to the court with batteries charged.”

The 21-year-old is all set for the quadrennial event, and with this year’s Roland Garros ‘on his leg’, the Spaniard is going to be a favorite to take the clay slam!
