Is there anything Carlos Alcaraz can’t do right now? Many would argue the answer is a resounding no. The Spanish sensation continues to impress, playing a pivotal role in Team Europe’s triumph at the Laver Cup, where he won three of his four matches, dropping only a doubles contest. With his season far from over, Alcaraz has already made his next move—this time, showing off not just his tennis skills, but his kind-hearted nature.
The young star has landed in Beijing to compete in the ATP 500 China Open, and ahead of his first match, he was spotted hard at work on the practice courts. Fans were eager to catch a glimpse of the 21-year-old phenom, with many clamoring for autographs and photos. Amid the excitement, one young fan handed Alcaraz his phone, hoping to snap a quick picture. Alcaraz, ever the professional, promised to take the photo after his session, eager to keep his focus on practice.
True to his word, after a grueling training session, Alcaraz returned to the crowd of supporters. While signing autographs, he spotted the same fan, remembered his promise, and posed for the picture, brightening the young fan’s day. Amid this, Alcaraz defended himself, saying, “I’ve seen a lot of people talk about my exhibitions this year and complain about the schedule, at the same time putting a lot of exhibition. But I want to say there is different things; we all have to separate the exhibitions and the calendar. It’s about different feelings in every person. I’m talking about myself, that the schedule…it’s been so tight since the first week of January till the last week of November. We have to talk about it ourselves and we have to do something about it.”
Furthermore, he also received advice from some tennis bigwigs, with renowned journalist, Jon Wertheim, urging him to slow down not to suffer the same fate as Rafael Nadal has had with injuries. However, with Alcaraz at his physical best, he has no plans of slowing down and will look to cap off his season on a high.
