For all these years, the one person who took Spanish tennis to new heights was Rafael Nadal. Throughout his time as a professional tennis player, he managed to lay his hands on 22 grand slams followed by numerous ATP titles. Not only this, he also etched his name into the history books as one of the greatest players to have played the game. Now that the Spaniard has been out of the court for a while, his place is taken by upcoming Spanish sensation Carlos Alcaraz.

In a recent revelation, Alcaraz is rightfully following in the footsteps of the Spanish great as the two share the same stats. After their first 200 matches on the professional circuit, the two players have the same ratio.

In a really cool coincidence, new tennis sensation Carlos Alcaraz has the exact same winning and losing record as the legendary Rafael Nadal in their first 200 ATP matches. Out of those matches, both stars managed to win 157 matches and lost 43 matches. This isn’t just a random fact, it’s a big deal. Rafael Nadal is a tennis icon, and Carlos Alcaraz is a young player everyone’s excited about. Ever since his remarkable gameplay reached the eyes of fans, he has drawn comparisons to Rafael Nadal.

Carlos Alcaraz, who is said by many to be the next Rafael Nadal shares the same statistics with his idol on the tennis court. While it might be a great coincidence, it might also be the start of a new era in Spanish tennis. Despite having the same stats as his idol, Carlos Alcaraz confessed that he gets nervous sometimes when he meets his idol in person.

Nerves still grip Alcaraz whenever he meets his role model Nadal

In an interview, the young Spanish sensation once shared that he gets really nervous whenever he gets a chance to meet his idol. “He [Rafael Nadal] makes me nervous, obviously. I mean, I’ve met him a lot of times right now but I still have nerves when I am speaking with him. Yeah ofcourse, he is my idol, he is my role model since I started playing tennis. So, I think the nerves will appear it’s something that’s impossible to pull out,” said Alcaraz in the interview.

Thus, despite meeting him on multiple occasions, the youngster still gets nervous whenever he gets the chance to meet his idol. While he shares the same path as his idol, it will be interesting to see if he can emulate the same success that Rafael Nadal once received during his prime years.
