It hasn’t been long since several tennis players came forward to talk about the difficulties they were facing because of the frequent ball change practice by the ATP. Representing the common issue of co-players, Carlos Alcaraz became the one to present a strong slam against the authorities, making the problem known to the world. In a recent turn of events, a new voice came to light, that addressed the same problem.

As the tennis community started discussing and realizing the issue’s intensity, world no.1 Novak Djokovic used his strong presence to directly discuss it with the ATP. However, as another tennis star joins the discussion, will the ATP take action?

Rising ATP star rewakes the frequent ball change concern raised by Carlos Alcaraz

Tennis player Alexander Bublik has been in the current highlights for his participation at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown. Currently ranked 32nd in the world, the young ATP star recently demanded a more inclusive approach to selecting tournament balls. “I think we should play on surfaces. One ball on the open hard, the second on the closed hard, the third on the clay, and on the grass with the Slazenger balls, I think, there are no problems,” Bublik suggested, echoing the voice of players like Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic.

Besides just raising the concern, he also proposed a unique approach, as he suggested involving the top 100 players in the decision-making process, as done for the other aspects of the game. “The balls should be chosen by the players: we have to get together – the first 50-100 people in the rating. They often send us letters like: ‘What do you think about this or that tournament, event,’ ‘How do you feel about this or that player?’ They send us a brochure in which we anonymously tap the keys and give answers. Why can’t you do that with balls?” Bublik added.

Considering the principle of majority rule as his base, Bublik noted, “Let’s take the first 100 as a starting point – those who perform at the TBS or the Masters – and offer a few options. Everyone would agree, the only question is what specific ball? Principle: Who has the most votes.” As the young ATP star used an impressive way of presenting his concern, he also insisted on considering the approach of the top-ranked players.

Bublik suggests considering top-spot suggestions as the basis to act upon the ball change concern

As Alexander Bublik acknowledged the concerns raised by players like Alcaraz and Djokovic, he stated that the best players in the world hold a better understanding and therefore feel the issues of different balls. “The best Fort ball, I think many of us agree with that. I think that the best players in the world understand the balls and feel them best because they show results. And, accordingly, they are treated with attention,” he added.

Along with accepting the challenges, Bublik pointed out that players like Alcaraz and Medvedev, because of their versatile form, can adapt to the situations in any conditions. “No matter how much Alcaraz complains, he manages to play all the balls, just like Daniil Medvedev. And win tournaments on different surfaces. You listen to him more,” Bublik concluded.

As the young tennis star added his verdict in support of Alcaraz and Djokovic, the issue seemed to be way more justified and worth giving attention to. What are your thoughts about this situation?
