While the tennis world was hoping for some magic in the match between Rafael Nadal and Alexander Zverev at the French Open, it isn’t meant to be. The German tennis star dominated the first two sets and took a 2-0 lead in the first-round match. Although the opening set was straightforward, Zverev won crucial points in the second set to be a set away from victory. With Nadal losing the first two sets, it has painted a grim picture among his fans, including Carlos Alcaraz.

The Spanish tennis sensation was seen catching the action live from the stands. After Nadal lost a close second set, Alcaraz could be seen putting his hand on his head, spotting a grim look. His picture went viral on social media and invited reactions from thousands of fans. While some had hilarious reactions to it, some echoed Alcaraz’s sentiments. One of the fans wrote, “This is our baby Carlitos? Eyes just pierced through what bit of soul I have left.”

Further, one Twitter user expressed dejection while praising Zverev for dominating the match, saying, “Who isnt in that mood after 2 sets except for Zverev himself?” Similarly, one fan had similar feelings to that of Alcaraz and said, “Think he feels how I feel tbh.” Further, another Twitter user, who appeared to be a Nadal fan, related to Alcaraz’s feelings, saying, “Carlito is all of us.” Like the thousands of fans supporting Nadal there, Alcaraz was also one among them and he wasn’t happy to see Zverev winning a close second set.

Lastly, one of the fans expressed a similar feeling of dejection after watching Nadal lose the second set. The comment read, “This was my face at the end of the second set.”

While Nadal’s French Open dreams have ended, there were reports earlier that he might team up with Alcaraz at the Paris Olympics. However, Alcaraz explained why this would be a complicated matter.

Carlos Alcaraz reveals difficulties in teaming up with Rafael Nadal at Paris Olympics

Ahead of the French Open, Alcaraz was involved in an interview in which he shed light on his potential team-up with his idol, Nadal, at the Paris Olympics. As much as Alcaraz would like this to happen, he also got real on the recent injury setbacks faced by both players.

He said, “We talked a little about that, that it would be great to play a tournament before the Olympic Games, but it’s going to be difficult. On land the next tournament will be Rome and then Roland Garros. Both tournaments are really important for We are in singles and we are not going to arrive in the best physical condition.”

Further, Alcaraz went on to add, “So it will be difficult to play a tournament before the Games, but it could be great as I have said many times, if everything goes well, we are going to play doubles there. But until that arrives we have many weeks before.”

Nonetheless, with Nadal yet to announce his retirement, there is still a slightest chance that he could team up with Alcaraz in Paris. However, for this to happen, the two would have to stay in good physical shape.
