Novak Djokovic, with his prowess, has outshined the Russian tennis player, Andrey Rublev, in an exciting quarterfinal matchup. However, a controversial incidental took place after the match involving his father, Srđjan. The 62 years old was spotted with a group of Russian supporters before they were thrown out of the stadium. It is further reported that they were Vladimir Putin supporters as they were filmed holding a Russian flag with his photo on it. A lot of tennis fans were irked when the controversial news broke out involving Djokovic’s father.

The Serbian tennis legend put on an incredible display to reach his 10th semi-final of the Grand Slam event in Melbourne. However, a controversial incident happened outside the stadium as a group of people started chanting while showing their support for Vladimir Putin. A video clip of the same also emerged on social media, in which Novak Djokovic’s dad was also spotted with those supporters.

Srđan was reportedly seen posing with a fan holding a Russian flag with Putin’s face on it. The man holding the flag was also wearing a t-shirt with a Z symbol emblazoned on it. That symbol serves as a sign of solidarity with Russia while it experiences issues with Ukraine. Notably, James Gray broke out the news stating, “Novak Djokovic’s father has been filmed posing for pictures with the fan holding a Putin flag and wearing a Z shirt, before telling them “long live the Russians” as he leaves.”

Consequently, a number of fans were irked when they came to know about Djokovic’s father posing with a group of Russian supporters.

Another fan slammed Srđan while also condemning others supporting him.

Another fan had some harsh words for the Tennis player and his family.

Others reacted in a similar way, wherein they were not happy.

A social media user was at a loss for words.

Politics and sports, two seemingly disparate areas were merged when the Australian Open authorities previously announced their decision to put on a ban on Russian flags. Now a group of fans has taken it to the next level in Melbourne.
