Nick Kyrgios, who is carrying on Team World’s hopes of winning their first Laver Cup title, faced his first matchup against Stefanos Tsitsipas from Team Europe. Kyrgios, who played very few tournaments this year, couldn’t live it up to the Greek’s speed and lost the first set, 3-6.

Tsitsipas was able to move better than the Aussie. With the crowd rooting for Kyrgios to win, Tsitsipas winning the first set was a disappointment for the fans. The Greek star player wasn’t bothered by Kyrgios’ serve after he got the much-needed break in the middle of the set.
Also, Tsitsipas got a bit lucky as there were a lot of his shots that hit the racquet frame and landed in. The Australian was definitely not happy with this and vented out his frustration over Tsitsipas to his team.
“‘But how many times? Can’t even say sorry… He just walks like he meant it. He’s like, ‘I practice it all the time.'”, Kyrgios said.

Kyrgios expected Tsitsipas to apologize for what happened but the latter went on with his game, not being bothered by what’s said on the other side of the court.
Even in the second set, the Aussie failed to convert a lead of 30-15 on Tsitsipas’ serve and went on to lose his serve at 2-2. With an early break up his sleeve, the Greek didn’t look back as he gave Team Europe a lead of 4-2.

But, Kyrgios was supposed to draw in some energy from the crowd. None of that happened so far into the match the Australian player looked overwhelmed from the quality all-round game produced by Stefanos Tsitsipas.
