Jan-Lennard Struff, a German tennis star, gave his country a good lead in the ongoing Davis cup. Struff defeated French’s best man, Benjamin Bonzi, in three sets 6-4, 2-6, and 7-5. The German star is giving outstanding performances this year, he also made it to US Open Qualifiers.

After decades, this is the first time Germany defeated France in the tournament. But the public and Struff attention was drawn to the stadium’s dearth of fans. Due to the absurdly high ticket costs for the matches, the almost empty stadiums were the highlight of the event. Struff showed his concern about the issue.

The 32 -year-old player was not happy with the ticket price distribution that took place for the Davis Cup. He said, “I was not frightened cause I saw it. You could look up online how many tickets had been sold. Was more shocked when I saw the ticket price. That was the problem. Totally understandable that a lot fans won’t come because it’s brutal expensive. It’s a pity”

He expressed his discomfort with the ticket prices that might have not decreased the enthusiasm of tennis fans to watch the tournament live. Not only the tennis ace but also tennis fans around the world mocked the tournament organizers for these scenes.

The group finals will take place in different cities, which also had expensive pricing before. But after the 32-year-old raised a question, the tournament organizers addressed the issue. The organizers have cut down the prices to a reasonable amount for the upcoming matches.

Struff gives Germany a lead in the Davis Cup

The veteran tennis ace defeated France and achieved a 1-0 lead. In the preliminary round, the 32-year-old had a record-breaking victory in his home country by winning over Benjamin in a three-set close-knit match. The German star serve was the highlight of the match. Initially, the Frenchman had a good start to the game.

However, in between the second set, it felt like the match was sweeping from Germany’s hand. In the third round, because of Struff’s foot problem, his service game also lost touch. Not only Struff, but Bonzi also faced a little problem during the match. The French star’s wrist created a problem in the middle of the game, giving an upper hand to the tennis ace. The German star made a comeback at the almost end of the game and took a win by holding off two points. Alexander Zverev was also present to cheer his country mate to win an impressive point for the country.
