While age seems to slow down athletes, Novak Djokovic is an exception. The Serb seems to get better with age and each passing day. The 36-year-old has had one of the best seasons of his tennis career this year. Winning three Grand Slam titles and reaching the final of Wimbledon this year, Djokovic has also reclaimed the top spot in the ATP rankings. Recently, British tennis legend, Greg Rusedski opened up about the Serbian star’s dominance on the court.

Djokovic has been on the top of his game for over 15 years now. He has suffered very few injury setbacks during his illustrious career. Rusedski had an interesting take on all this while talking about Djokovic’s longevity.

While appearing in the Tennis Channel Inside-In podcast, the former US Open finalist talked in detail about current World Number 1 Djokovic. The British tennis legend believes that the Serb is the best athlete in the world while praising his mental and physical fortitude.

The 50-year-old began by giving an example of Rafael Nadal comparing Djokovic’s physicality to his. Further, Rusedski went on to continue, “People don’t look at recovery, health, consistency, all those things, and to have that motivation and drive at 36 years young is incredible. I mean, I was brain-dead by the time I was 36, just playing some social tennis and some champions, champions tennis on the senior tour. So for him to do this at this high level and still be the best player on the planet is exceptional.”

It is no secret that Djokovic is a master when it comes to mental strength as well along with physical endurance. He once revealed the secret to his mental fortitude.

How does Djokovic stay on the top of mental well-being?

A few years back, the 24-time Grand Slam champion opened up about what he does to stay calm and maintain his good mental health. Talking about this, he said, “I mean everyone is different obviously, you gotta figure out what your formula is, what makes you feel confident and comfortable at the same time. Being in the zone is a term widely used in sports so, being in the zone in other words means being present.”
