We often tend to forget that athletes have a life outside the court too. In his latest conversation with Eurosport, World’s No.1 Novak Djokovic highlighted his candid opinion about many things. Djokovic described why winning is so important to him and it was definitely an emotional answer. The 24-time Grand Slam winner is quite popular for being a family man.

Djokovic is often found spending quality time with his wife and two kids. The Serb is currently in the French capital to attend the Paris Masters which is where he had this conversation. He also showcased a great deal of appreciation for his coach Goran Ivanisevic.

With his growing age, it seems like Djokovic has become quite mature in many ways. But this doesn’t mean that he has gotten less aggressive. However, his interviews and one-on-one chats with media persons seem more intellectual than it used to. Even while talking to Eurosport, the champ fleshed out some very personal yet critical points.

Let’s be honest, no one in their right mind would want to stay away from their family. Djokovic spoke on a similar situation, as he mentions his dire condition everytime he has to say goodbye to his family. In his words: “It breaks my heart every time I leave them. So when I travel, when I go somewhere, I really want to win. I want to make that travel worth it.” However, his dedication is quite commendable as he acknowledges the sacrifices. He also talks about how winning is not just a want but a need for him. It is the reward he must attain to make things fair for his family.

It is important to realize that Djokovic has a duty towards his family as well. Over the years, he has given a lot to tennis, starting from his precious time to his endless efforts. Presently, Djokovic himself acknowledged a new-found struggle.

Novak Djokovic turned professional back in 2003. The 36-year-old has been active in tennis for 20 years and is still going on. Even though he is quite ahead of his competition with a total of 11045 points. He recently addressed his struggles about not feeling the same energy anymore.

It is an undeniable fact that time takes a toll on everyone. Djokovic mentioned: “I need even more extra motivation nowadays at this later stages of my career than maybe what I needed five years ago or 10 years ago. Things are different. My life is evolving.” However, it is quite fortunate that his coach Ivanisevic is still dedicated to the cause. As per Djokovic, he finds himself constantly being motivated by his coach.
