Notably, the absence of the Swiss Maestro caused the tournament a huge loss in terms of revenue. Now, it seems like the tournament will finally have its most decorated male champion in the house on a joyous occasion.

Roger Federer looks sharp as he is ready to attend the centenary celebrations at Wimbledon Championships

Today is one of the most important days in the history of the Wimbledon Championships, as the Centre Court celebrates its 100-year anniversary. As part of this centenary celebration, Wimbledon has already invited many celebrities and former players. And one of those players is none other than 8-time Wimbledon champion,?Roger Federer.?

Recently, the official Twitter handle of Wimbledon posted a few photos of Federer, wearing a black suit. According to many reports, he will take part in the centenary celebrations along with Sue Barker, Clare Balding, and John McEnroe. Apart from attending the event, Federer will most probably watch a few matches as well.

Notably, Wimbledon also invited around 1500 refugees from Ukraine, Syria, and Afghanistan to this event, as they will celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the Centre Court. It is also worth mentioning that the Centre Court has been a part of the Wimbledon Championships since 1922.

Federer is nearing his comeback on the tour

Earlier, the Swiss Maestro announced his return to the 2022 season at the Laver Cup in September. Apart from Federer, Rafael Nadal will also be there for team Europe. After the Laver Cup, he will make his official return on the ATP tour at the Swiss Indoors in Basel, his home tournament.

Currently, the Swiss player has only two events scheduled for this year. In an interview earlier, he expressed his desire to return to the tour full time, possibly playing a few more Grand Slam events next year. However, things might change, as he could play a few more tournaments this year; many fans are hoping to see him at the US Open this year.?
