Things have gone completely off the track for Holger Rune this year. As if his poor form wasn’t enough, the Danish tennis sensation also lost his coaching team as the likes of Boris Becker and Severin Luthi exited his team. It was a turbulent time for the 20-year-old, who had achieved his career-best ranking just 4 months ago. Amid this testing time, Rune has found a glimmer of hope in the form of Patrick Mouratoglou.

Days after splitting with his coaches, Rune announced that he would be appointing Mouratoglou as his full-time coach. Announcing this news, Rune said, “I believe Patrick is the best person to help me achieve my goals. I am excited to resume working with Patrick. With him I have achieved some of the greatest triumphs of my career so far, and I can’t wait for us to chase the next major titles together.”
Further, he went on to add, “Moving ahead, we have had good talks on how our collaboration should unfold, and we have agreed on a strong setup that creates the best conditions for my performance.”
Before getting the likes of Becker and Luthi on board, Mouratoglou was Rune’s coach. Their partnership lasted for 10 months from October 2022 to August 2023. With the French coach by his side, Rune achieved some of his career’s biggest successes, including a career-high ranking of 4. Despite this success, he once preferred Becker over Mouratoglou.
