The life of sports personalities is far from easy, filled with relentless pressure both on and off the court. While their athletic feats inspire millions, controversies can just as easily overshadow their achievements. Imagine navigating through the highs and lows of a stellar sports career, only to be pulled into a vortex of controversies long after you’ve hung up your racquet. The latest to fall victim to this harsh reality is none other than Boris Becker, the tennis legend who now finds himself ensnared in a web of rumors and misinformation.

Recent reports revealed that Boris Becker engaged in an interaction with Roger Federer’s former coach Ivan Ljubicic and talked about Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz. In fact, Ljubicic himself told L’Equipe about this conversation which claimed Nole to have surrendered mentally to the Spaniard. This raised several eyebrows within the tennis community. However, in the latest developments, Boris Becker has reflected on these reports and has denied making any such statements.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, Becker reposted a fan’s post and claimed, “Never said it!” He did not stop here. When a Twitter user thanked him for clearing the air, he said, “Unless you hear it coming from me directly, never believe what third parties speak about me…” This is creating a huge furor within the tennis community which nullifies Ljubicic’s statements.

Earlier, Ivan Ljubicic claimed to have engaged in a conversation with Becker regarding Djokovic and cast doubts of his future. “Boris Becker told me that it seemed to him that Novak had practically accepted Alcaraz’s superiority, which he had never done with Rafa and Roger. We are not far from the generational change. That’s life…” This added immense value to the debate over Djokovic’s future since Bocker was associated with the Serb for three years as his coach.

This came soon after Novak Djokovic’s defeat in straight sets to Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon finals for the second consecutive time. This also took their head-to-head count tally to 3-3. Now, Boris Becker’s statements, if true, highlight the influx of misinformation even between former pros which can create huge conflicts. While Becker may or may not have admitted Carlos Alcaraz’s dominance over Djokovic, the latter has surely accepted it!

When Novak Djokovic admitted Carlos Alcaraz’s dominance over him

Carlos Alcaraz is the latest reigning force on the tennis courts. And one of the latest preys of his dominance is Novak Djokovic who failed against him twice in the grass-court Grand Slam finals. Novak Djokovic himself admitted to the same after his latest defeat at Wimbledon.

After losing his match against the Spaniard at Wimbledon, the Serbian was seen in praise for his counterpart. “I was inferior on the court. He was the better player. That’s it.” Alcaraz won 84% of his first serve and 61% of his second serve in that match. Reflecting on his opponent’s brilliance in the high-pressure situation, the Serb added, “He played every single shot better than I did…I’ve never seen him serve that way, to be honest. Yes, overall he really outplayed me.”

While Ljubicic is yet to make any statements about Becker’s latest denial, it would be interesting to see if this leads to a new controversy and strained relationships within the tennis corridor.
