As the next generation of tennis stars aim to take the stage, all eyes are set on them. Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Ben Shelton, and other youngsters with them are all the rage at the moment. As the spotlight rests on them, Boris Becker believes that the tennis world is not paying enough attention to stars who are older but in their prime.
Alexander Zverev is one of the stars Becker talked about lacking attention from the media. While supporting his countryman, he did not fail to slam him when he felt that the 26-year-old was putting on an underwhelming show.

Becker has followed Zverev as he shares his hopes for the legacy of German tennis. The 26-year-old has been a regular in the top 10 of the ATP but has only reached one grand slam final so far. Regardless, he has won several other titles, which are a testament to his abilities, which Becker believes do not get enough respect. As per the legendary German player, the players who will step into their prime do not get enough attention.
“They’re all talking about the young three or four, but don’t give Zverev, Medvedev or Rublev enough respect. He’s playing with his fist in his pocket a little bit, wants everyone show that he is not a thing of the past, but that his best time is yet to come. Surely his father knows best what is good for his son, but if you look into the box at the competition, you can also see changes.“

When he appeared on an episode of the Eurosport podcast, the German tennis star made it apparent that he was fed up with Alexander Zverev. He chastised the player for being content with his “way too little” performance at the renowned competition. He further said that there was way too little self-analysis after his loss, and someone like Alcaraz would not be kind to themselves after losing to a player struggling with injury.
