Top-ranked American ATP icons Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe are recently part of a huge announcement made by Roger Federer’s Laver Cup. The tournament, of which the two are former champions is to be held in Vancouver at the Rogers Arena, from September 22-24th. With that, the official team announcements have started, and breaking through the nervous intrigue news is that Fritz and Tiafoe are set to team up once again this season!

These two of America’s best tennis icons and Canadian No.1 Felix Auger-Aliassime, will play for Team World, coached by veteran ATP legend and recent pickleball-enthusiast John McEnroe. Looking back, the 2022 Laver Cup will forever remain unforgettable owing to the Swiss Maestro’s retirement. However, it will also serve as a standard for Team World this time, as they look to defend their title, securing their second victory over Team Europe- a four-time champion.

Laver Cup looks set to deliver on its promise

Team world captain John McEnroe is nothing less than thrilled to have a chance at defeating Borg’s Team Europe once again. “It’s like getting the band back together,” said McEnroe. “Taylor, Frances, and Felix have all played Laver Cup multiple times and were big factors in our victory last year. I know I can count on these guys to step up. I really like our chances with them on the team in Vancouver.”

World no.10 Taylor Fritz opened up about his participation and said, “Laver Cup is such a unique event, and I’m really excited to be back for Team World this year. We had an awesome time in London last year, the team had great energy, and finally getting that win has given us a lot of confidence. But, Frances, Felix, and I know from experience how quickly momentum can shift in Laver Cup, so we will need to be at our best.”

Tiafoe, who is a through and through entertainer on the court is now ranked at world No.12, representing Team World three times in the past. “There’s no doubt that last year’s Laver Cup win was right up there as a career high for me,” said Tiafoe. “It was an unbelievable feeling to finally lift that trophy after coming so close in the past, and I can’t wait to give it another shot this year.”

Laver Cup also took to its official Instagram handle to talk about these exciting updates. Needless to say, with these announcements, tennis fans around the world are eagerly anticipating another thrilling edition of the Laver Cup.
