‘Biggest Scam of Tennis’- 19-Year Roger Federer Dominance Triggers Rival Fans as They Question ATP Award’s Legitimacy

Roger Federer holds many records in tennis, which is not a surprise to many, given his dominance during his prime. However, he also holds dominance over trophies, which are not a direct result of a player’s career. But even his dominance brings the question of legitimacy to the fore. He has won an award 19 times consecutively, which is raising questions about the trophy itself.

This is not the first time an off-court award has brought a controversial discussion in the way of the ATP. The tennis association that handles men’s tennis was accused of corruption by the fans of Novak Djokovic, which saw Federer and Rafael Nadal as the winners of the trophy for 18 years. 

Fans raise questions about the dominance of Roger Federer

The ATP began the Fans’ Favorite award in the year 2000. Till now, the award has seen Roger Federer as the winner for the longest time. He won the award consecutively from 2003 to 2021. This is making tennis fans question whether the award actually takes fans’ votes into account or not. Many think that the award is given by the ATP on their whims. When the statistic went viral on ‘X’, tennis fans shared their thoughts.

One fan said they were surprised that Federer didn’t win the award in 2022. They also sarcastically said that he would win it again this year despite his retirement.

When a Djokovic fan asked if the original post was ‘legit’, one user replied by saying that people will use propaganda when they can’t beat someone.

Tennis fans, especially fans of Djokovic, do not find the situation amusing or legit. They believe it is a scam, which happened before when another record of Roger Federer came to the fray.

Fans of Novak Djokovic are angry at the consecutive wins of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal

Apart from the fan favorite award, Roger Federer has also won the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award, along with Rafael Nadal, for the past eighteen years consecutively. Djokovic has not won the award a single time, and this has infuriated his fans as the reality came to light. His fans were livid, and many said that Nadal and Federer probably sponsored it and kept passing it between each other.

They also talked about corruption running deep in the ATP and that the two players are not worthy of the award. Djokovic’s fans were not happy at the fact of the award eluding their favorite for his entire career.
