For a long time, tennis fans were waiting for a Netflix documentary based on the life of tennis players. They got the good news recently when the trailer for Break Point was out. From the trailer, we can see that the series closely follows the life of a few top tennis stars of the modern generation.

Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios is also an important part of the series. In the trailer, we can hear Kyrgios saying, “The expectation for me to be the next big thing is massive.”

Fans were firstly surprised and later mocked Kyrgios for the statement. The 27-year-old has now been there on the tour for quite some time. The mocking came in, particularly for his age and performance history. Here’s how fans reacted to it on a Reddit thread.

Kyrgios has been on the tour for quite some time now. While the Aussie has a great fan following and particularly had a great season last year, he is still to win a Grand Slam. Earlier in the Wimbledon Championships 2022, he had a good run and made it to his first Major final. However, Serbian tennis great Novak Djokovic came on his way to his first Grand Slam glory.

Later, he had a decent run in the US Open as well. However, he couldn’t go past the quarterfinals. While there’s no doubt that Kyrgios is an exciting talent, what irked fans is his age. It won’t be wrong to say that the 27-year-old is already an experienced campaigner. The narrative of the next big thing is something more suitable for the likes of Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek, who have done remarkably well in their initial days on the tour.
