Andy Murray made his long-awaited comeback to clay at the Monte Carlo Masters after sitting out the majority of the 2022 clay court season. However, his comeback wasn’t what he would have hoped for, as he crashed out in the first round. The Australian star Alex de Minaur made short work of the three-time Grand Slam winner.

In the aftermath of Murray’s quick exit from the tournament, tennis fans were talking more about Murray’s on-court antics instead of de Minaur’s excellent performance. Some of them even took to Twitter and expressed dismay at something Murray did during the second set.

Murray was second-best throughout the contest, and de Minaur had raced to a dominant 6-1 first set win. However, soon after the second set got underway, Murray stopped playing entirely in the middle of a rally after his hat fell off his head.

Twitter user @MeVsSpread got the banter going by saying, “Andy Murray complaining about how his hat falling off should stop a point. Not sure about that one chief. Trying anything possible to get back into the match lol”.

Another user, @AlrightVic, wrote, “Trash behavior, as per!!!!”

@chuks_tristan also had a go at Murray.

The most stinging comment probably came from @reggaetonced, who wrote, “His on court behavior has always been suspect at best. Always been kind of a sore loser.”

@stevvvithsign also poked fun at Murray’s actions.

@frenchopen2004 kept the onslaught going by saying, “he truly is my number 1 nemesis”.

User @slay_suwei had a humorous take on Murray’s actions.

Last but not least, @Declanrooney88 had his pop at Murray by writing, “Swr murray has done this loads of time before, what a melt”.
