Roger Federer officially confirmed that he would be attending this year’s Wimbledon. While it is obvious that Federer won’t grace the courts as a tennis player, he will be spending a few days in SW19 in some capacity. There was intense speculation that he would return as a commentator, but Federer has outright denied any such rumors. Federer, though, had some really nice and encouraging words for his former rival Andy Murray.
Federer heaped praise on Murray’s challenger win at Surbiton. Murray had breezed past all of his opponents and won the title quite comfortably except in his quarter-final match against Jason Kubler, where he was stretched to three sets.

Many are Roger Federer fans. But it’s only a few who have the privilege of having Federer himself as their fan. One such player is Murray. Federer, in a recent interview according to express.co.uk confessed that he is a big fan of Murray in the recent interview he gave in Greenwich to launch a new tennis court.
Federer said, ?I?m a big fan of Andy?s and I wish him all the best for Wimbledon. That?s his best surface in my mind, especially nowadays.”?
Murray has been working really hard to resurrect his career to the level it once was when he was the world no.1. And the signs are nothing but looking positive. Now with the encouraging words from Federer, he could only be more propelled to work even more diligently to achieve that. Federer also called Murray a ‘special man’. There has never been any doubt about Murray’s dexterity with a tennis racquet, but it is his body that has failed him many times.

Though Murray withdrew from this year’s French Open due to his poor form, his grass court preparation has been going just as planned. Federer praised his performance in Surbiton, saying “He just won a Challenger in Surbiton last week,” Federer added. “He won that the same week as Novak got to this incredible record of 23 slams and Andy?s plugging away at Surbiton ? that also deserves so much respect”.

?Murray has been in really fine form on grass recently with these exploits. He has progressed nicely into the quarters of the Nottingham challenger easily. With this kind of touch, Federer says he expects Murray to play really well in Wimbledon, his favorite surface. Murray, two time Wimbledon champion has been hampered by hip problems over the years. Federer sympathized with Murray saying” I think with all his complications he?s had with his hip it?s amazing to see that he?s still going. What he?s going through and what he?s achieving with what he?s gone through is incredible.?
With Wimbledon being on Andy Murray’s favorite surface, that is, grass, one can be sure that he will look to seize this opportunity with all that he has. With him having nothing to lose, his opponents will vary on the threat he possesses.
