Carlos Alcaraz vs. Novak Djokovic in Riyadh—better than most Marvel movies? What do you think?

Who sits at the top of the ATP today as ‘King?’ Well, we are not talking about the rankings, but someone who is widely accepted as the best player in the world right now. Maybe no one to pacify the multifaceted debate. Many fans would say, Novak Djokovic, due to his record 24 Grand Slams and two Olympic medals. But not everyone would agree with the Serb being the best right now based in current form. Maybe one of these names Rafael Nadal, Holger Rune, Jannik Sinner, Daniil Medvedev, or Carlos Alcaraz would feature in the debate as well. However, Riyadh season 2024 may sort this debate out for everyone.

It seems that the Riyadh season has taken inspiration from the ‘call of duty’ as they launched a promotional video ‘Call of the Kings’ featuring all the six players mentioned above. The Adviser at the Royal Court, Turki Alalshikh, posted a video blending the scenic beauty of Riyadh, and various cultures with technology and tennis to attract fans around the world.

The 6 tennis players don silver (robotic) outfits and hold racquets in their hands, ready to hit the tennis courts with a storm! Alalshikh captioned the video: “Djokovic @DjokerNole, Nadal @RafaelNadal, Alcaraz @Carlosalcara, Sinner @janniksin, Medvedev @daniilMedwed, and Rune @holgerrune2003 6 Kings 👑 One Throne 🎾 Who will emerge victorious in the ultimate battle at this Riyadh Season? 🔥🇸🇦”

What’s more fascinating is the fact that Nadal, who has yet to play a match since the Olympics, would also be on the court. The promotional video also caught Holger Rune’s gaze, as he called it the “Best promotion video for an exhibition event that I have ever seen” on X.

The phenomenal video also blew tennis fans away as the promotional video invoked comparisons with Hollywood superheroes!

Have an interesting take?

It’s not every day that tennis and superhero fantasies merge into one. But the Riyadh Season, an exhibition event, has brought dreams and reality closer with its terrific promotional video. And the video has done wonders, as one of the fans who disliked the event earlier, and probably dislike it even now by their own admission, also expressed their fondness for the video. The fan wrote, “I already hated this ‘tournament’. Now that I’ve seen who sponsors it… even more… the video is objectively beautiful, anyway.” Certainly, a job well done!

Moreover, seeing their favorite players in robotic dresses and playing heroes in the virtual world has been appreciated by many fans. One of the fans wrote, “Amazing promo go King of Kings 🐐🐺🐊🥇.” The video itself is nothing less than a movie. First comes the young prince of clay, Alcaraz, who is seen practicing with a robot, before blowing it away with his shot, causing a sandstorm and breaking glasses before the ball passes to Sinner. The video has drawn comparisons with the great Marvel movies.

But for a fan, it was more than the Marvel, as they said, “This was a better watch than most Marvel movies.” This was not all. For another fan, it was better than the Netflix movies, as they wrote, “This promo video right here is better than most Netflix movies.

It’s rare that exhibition matches are promoted through such creativity. From practicing with a robot to traveling in a ship, before the King of Clay Nadal rises from the clay to send the ball flying into outer space to his arch-rival, Novak Djokovic, who rises in the snow with wolves. Such elaborative yet individualistic finesse has tennis fans on the edge of their seats. One of the fans cheered on, “Wow, this is quite a promo 🔥🔥👏👏 Gooo Novak, our wolf🐺”
