World No.1 Novak Djokovic got off to a great start at the US Open 2021 as he defeated Holger Rune in four sets. Even though the Serbian legend lost a close tie-breaker in the second set, he made sure that he won the next two sets to win the match. The final scoreline of the match was 6-1, 6(5)-7(6), 6-2, 6-1.
In a recent interview to SkySports.com, Former World No.8 Marcos Baghdatis claimed that Novak Djokovic is the best tennis player- both mentally and physically. Even though he mentioned that Djoker is really strong mentally, he also highlighted that he sometimes loses his calm on the court.
“How can he just change gears whenever he wants to? I think mentally, physically, and tennis-wise, he is the best out there. With that said, the mental part of his game can be so strong, but at the same time it can ruin him… It’s the mental side where he can sometimes have these bursts, but for me, it’s really understandable,” said Baghdatis in the interview.

Baghdatis lauded Nole for his fitness as well. He stated that keeping his mind his physique, the 20-time Grand Slam champion can easily play for the next five years.
“I think it happens because he works so hard. He does everything off the court so well, from his nutrition to his fitness. The guy has everything to keep on playing for the next five years,” added the former Croatian player.

Marcos Baghdatis believes that Novak Djokovic can accomplish the Calendar Slam at the US Open 2021
In the same interview, Baghdatis emphasized that Djokovic is having an incredible season this year. Thus, he hopes that he will achieve his Calendar Slam at the US Open 2021.
“I hope he can do it [win the Calendar Slam], for him. He is having an incredible season and I think he’s just doing incredible,” concluded the former World No.8.
Novak Djokovic will next face Tallon Griekspoor in the second round of the US Open 2021. Fans have really high expectations from him and want him to achieve the impossible in New York this year. Will he be able to end the year as the World No.1 player yet again?
