Casper Ruud has reserved a spot for himself in the final of the French Open 2022. He will face a legend of the sport in Rafael Nadal. Ruud has had a good start to the year, clinching two titles and now aspiring to win his first grand slam title.

The Norwegian is particularly excited to battle his idol, Rafael Nadal, for the Musketeers’ cup.

Ruud, following his victory against Marin Cilic in the semi-finals of the French Open 2022, spoke about his admiration for his idol. He stated, “I’m looking up to Rafa, the player I’m gonna play in the final, he never complains, he’s a perfect example how you should behave on court, never give up, complain, he’s been my idol all my life.”

Casper Ruud has been in good form coming into the French Open, winning both the Argentina Open and Geneva Open. He will be hoping that his form continues when he faces the ‘King of Clay’ in the final.
Developments in the French Open 2022
The Norwegian defeated Marin Cilic, 3-6 6-4 6-2 6-2. The other semifinal between Rafael Nadal and Alexander Zverev ended with the German player retiring because of a gruesome injury. He twisted his ankle trying to hit the ball and his screams brought a pin drop silence in the Philippe-Chatrier.

On the day of the final, the court Philippe-Chatrier will surely have the majority of the audience supporting the record champion, Rafael Nadal. However, Casper Ruud’s scintillating form on clay cannot be ignored and we could end up with a brand new champion after all on Sunday.
