Hubert Hurkacz emerged as the winner of the Miami Open 2021 after defeating the in-form Jannik Sinner in the finals. Interestingly, Hurkacz thrashed the 19-year-old in straight sets and lifted his first ATP Masters 1000 title. In a recent interview, World No. 1 Novak Djokovic praised the youngster for playing some exceptional tennis in Miami.

Djokovic spoke about how the Miami Open 2021 was a great tournament for youngsters and mentioned that Hubert Hurkacz had played some fantastic tennis throughout the tournament.

“Yeah! A great tournament for young guys. Both Sinner and Hurkacz played a fantastic tournament. They beat some big names on the road to the finals,” said Djokovic.

The Serbian legend also praised Jannik Sinner for showing consistency since the last year. He believes that he can be a leader of the next generation one day as he can play well on any surface.

“You know, Sinner has been consistent for the last year and a half. If not the leader, he’s definitely one of the leaders of the next generation of players coming up… He’s playing equally well on clay and on hardcourt and on the other surfaces. So that’s great to see,” added the World No. 1 player.

Djoker highlighted that Hurkacz is on good terms with almost all the players on tour and is a fantastic guy. He also revealed an interesting characteristic of the Polish player.

“Hurkacz is also a fantastic guy, friends with many players on the tour. I know he works hard and smiles. He always smiles everywhere he goes. I actually saw him today and I couldn’t be happier for him, you know. I congratulated him and he really deserved that,” concluded the 17-time Grand Slam champion.

Novak Djokovic and Hubert Hurkacz are both playing at the Monte Carlo Masters 2021 right now. The Polish player recently got a walkover in his first match, while Djokovic will most probably face Jannik Sinner in his first match. Will Djokovic be able to win yet another Monte Carlo Masters title yet again?
