Temperatures soared high at the John Cain Arena! Nick Kyrgios was seen feeling the pressure in front of the Aussie crowd at his ‘Home Slam’. The 23-year-old Brit, Jacob Fearnley clinched the first set by 7-6(3), and then he also secured the second set. Kyrgios gave a tough fight in the third set, but he lost the match by 6(3)-7,3-6,6(2)-7. Kyrgios was seen livid with something after losing the first set to Fearnley and the fans noticed him spitting out expletives during the same. They’ve now come out in numbers to take a jibe at the Aussie superstar.

What was Nick Kyrgios frustrated with, though? Well, the Aussie seemed to be raging an anger in the direction of those in his courtside box. The situation was so fiery at that moment that even Channel Nine was forced to apologize live on air after Nick Kyrgios unleashed multiple expletives in the direction of his coaches.

His frustration continued in the second set as well, and some injury concerns worsened the situation for the Aussie. His outbursts became even more frequent at that time. What happened to Kyrgios? Well, as per reports, a potential abdominal injury is hampering a bit in his ability to get his serve up to speed and perhaps it’s also causing a bit of hindrance in his movement around the court.

This is his debut appearance for Jacob Fearnley at the AO and what a start it has been for this Brit! Probably not as many people as are going to be watching on Monday. I’ve definitely had some nasty things thrown in my direction. You just have to ignore it and move on. In this match, Nick Kyrgios was seen frequently clutching his abdomen and was unable to play to his full potential. He was heard saying, “It really hurts. I shouldn’t be out here.” Later on, he was seen yelling, “Just keep f-ing serving, alright? I’m here now. I’m here now so I may as well just keep serving.” After hearing this, Eurosport commentator, Mikey Perera said, “You can see Nick Kyrgios is starting to unload again. I’ll keep apologizing, everybody. It might still keep on coming, the bad language from Kyrgios. He’s just venting to his team.” Now after hearing all these, One of the fans wrote, “Nick Kyrgios 🤣 this dude he loves swearing #AustralianOpen,” on X.

However, this isn’t the first time that his on-court actions stirred a bit of controversy during his matches at the AO. In 2022, Kyrgios was labeled “an absolute knob” with the “maturity of a 10-year-old” for AO antics by his doubles opponent, Michael Venus. So, Kyrgios has always been known for his fiery temper and on-court antics, and this has prompted many to brand him the “bad boy” of tennis. After seeing this recent moment, some of the fans highlighted, “Reformed bad boy Nick Kyrgios already dropping F bombs. He really is repulsive. #AusOpen.

What does Kyrgios think of this labeling, though? Well, in a previous interview while speaking on if he really thinks he’s the “bad boy” of tennis, he said, “I’m definitely not like I just, I don’t know, they just branded me this ever since I came on tour. Honestly, like, I don’t do anything crazy.” However, after seeing him throw expletives toward his boxes in his first-round match a fan wrote, “On-court abuse of his box and the unprofessionalism on full display from Nick Kyrgios! After announcing his comeback, Nick Kyrgios spoke about his goals saying that he wants to “shut up” those who doubt him and win a Grand Slam singles title. However, after seeing him in the first round of the 2025 some of the fans felt, “Nick Kyrgios is going to retire here #AO25.”

Nick Kyrgis soaked up a hero’s welcome as he returned to John Cain Arena after a long time. However, seeing him getting frustrated so early after the first set was perhaps beyond the expectations of some of the fans.
