The 2025 AO draw is out! Novak Djokovic’s road to this 11th title at the Australian Open has been decided. He will kick-start his campaign in Melbourne against the American youngster, Nishesh Basavareddy. If he wins that match, he’ll be heading to some more interesting battles in the next two weeks at the 2025 AO. After seeing this draw, his fans have become a bit worried and they’ve started to flood the social media showcasing their concerns for his 25th major title quest.

In 2024, Novak Djokovic failed to win a Grand Slam title for the first time since 2017. He was defeated by Jannik Sinner in the SF of the 2024 AO in a four-set thriller. Although he reached the final of the Wimbledon Championships, Carlos Alcaraz got the better of the Serb in that epic encounter by 2-6,2-6,6(4)-7. So, it has been a long wait for him and as well as for the fans. Novak Djokovic will be entering this tournament after his QF defeat at the hands of Reilly Opelka in the Brisbane International. Interestingly, there is a high chance of him facing the same opponent in the R3 of the 2025 AO!

Who are going to be his probable opponents in the first major tournament of the 2025 season, though? Well, if Novak Djokovic wins his first match then he may face Russia’s Pavel Kotov in the second round. After that, he could most likely face either Opelka or Tomas Machac (CZE) in the third round. If he wins that battle in the third round, Novak Djokovic could possibly face either Grigor Dimitrov or the in-form youngster Jiri Lehecka (CZE). For those who are unaware, Lehecka recently won the Brisbane International title!

What if Novak Djokovic overcomes all these hurdles and makes it to the QF? Well, here comes the interesting part! In the QF he could possibly face the current world number 3, Carlos Alcaraz. Both these players have met each other seven times in their careers and currently, the Serb leads the H2H record by 4-3. However, interestingly, all of these seven meetings have come in the SF or later. So, this will be the first time we may see this epic battle a little earlier than expected.

If Novak Djokovic overcomes that challenge against the Spaniard, he could face either Alexander Zverev or Casper Ruud in the semis. Zverev was one of the most consistent players in 2024, so that’d also be an interesting battle to watch out for. Suppose Djokovic manages to get one step closer to winning the title in Melbourne, who could be his possible opponents in the final? Well, in the final, the Serb may face either Jannik Sinner or Daniil Medvedev. Even Holger Rune has a chance of reaching the final!

This 37-year-old tennis star is known for his hunger for excellence! During the Shanghai Master in 2024, Novak Djokovic spoke about the real motivation that keeps him pushing day in and day out. “My main motivation comes from love and passion for the sport, and also the desire to keep competing,” said the Serb. He has achieved almost everything in his career! How does Novak Djokovic feel about taking part in these types of big matches?

These are kind of the matches and challenges that I still strive for, to be in a position to play against the best players in the world, on the biggest stage, in the finals of some of the biggest tournaments in the world,” said Djokovic in a previous interview. How fascinating is it to see his hunger to take up these challenges even at this age! What do his fans have to say about this challenging draw in the 2025 AO, though?

During a recent interview with 9news, tennis icon John Millman expressed his optimism with Novak Djokovic for his 25th Grand Slam title quest in what could probably be his favorite Slam. Millman highlighted another stat and said, “You kind of feel like the stars are aligning for Novak, who is also chasing his 100th career title. We thought he could achieve that in Brisbane, but it didn’t happen. It would be quite special for Novak to achieve his 100th title at the Australian Open on a court that is so well known.” Looking at the Serb’s incredible dominance at the AO, he even said that he wouldn’t be surprised to see Rod Laver Arena getting changed to his name!

What do the fans think of Novak Djokovic’s chances at this year’s AO, though? “Not happening,” wrote a fan. So, there are some serious question marks raised by the fans on his chances at the ‘Melbourne Slam.’

Amidst all these concerns surrounding his chance at the 2025 AO, Roger Federer’s ex-coach recently shared his thoughts on Novak Djokovic. He said, “You can never rule it out if everything goes well for him. From my point of view, I think his best chances are the Australian Open and Wimbledon, with all the experience he has on grass.” However, after seeing the draw, another fan looked a bit concerned about the same. The fan wrote, “OMFG he got probably the toughest draw imaginable. 😭.”

Jannik Sinner, on the other hand, is placed on the opposite side of the draw to that of the Serb. He has a relatively easier path to the final. Sinner will face Chile’s Nicolas Jarry in the first round. He has no chance of meeting either Djokovic or Alcaraz before the final. Speaking on the draw, another fan wrote, “It’s a nightmare draw. What has sinner got?” Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic’s rivalry has gone to a different level in the last few years. Imagine they are facing each other in the final!

Another fan highlighted Novak Djokovic’s path to glory from the third round and tweeted, “Dimitrov – Alcaraz – Zverev – Sinner.” The fan even sarcastically shared a GIF that read, “FEELS GREAT.” It’ll be interesting to see if the Serb can achieve the milestones in the 2025 AO or if we have to wait for a bit longer. What do you think about this, though?
