In an action-packed finale, Daniil Medvedev led the charts after winning the first two sets. With the win just looming a set apart, the Russian player could not capitalize on it and it was the Italian who made a comeback. However, coming into the 4th set of the match, the Russian player was seen in deep trouble as he required some medical attention midway through the match.

Daniil Medvedev suffered from blisters which caused him a lot of pain. So much so that he had to stop the match and receive medical attention. After that, the Russian player got back on track and resumed his journey to win the title. It is clear that due to the discomfort, Medvedev could not continue his fiery start.
Medvedev’s performance in the first two sets surprised everyone. However, he could not capitalize on the lead and eventually lost the game. As Jannik Sinner lifts his first Grand Slam, Medvedev experiences a painful déjà vu.

Back in 2022, Daniil Medvedev faced Rafael Nadal in the finals of the Australian Open. Despite being 2-0 up after the first 2 sets, he wasn’t able to capitalize on the lead which eventually became the reason for his loss. 2 years later, the same instance happened and despite having a 2-0 lead, the Russian superstar did not manage to take charge on it which eventually resulted in a loss for him.

With the win, Jannik Sinner not only ended his country’s 47-year-old title drought but also became the first Italian to have won the Australian Open in the men’s singles category.
