Rafael Nadal is on the verge of creating history. The Spaniard is into the finals of the Australian Open 2022, defeating Italian Matteo Berrettini earlier today. Moreover, if the 35-year-old manages to win the opening Grand Slam of the season, he can overtake Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer to become the man with most Grand Slam singles titles.

Further, many former players and coaches have appreciated Nadal’s displays on the court. His fighting spirit and never-say-die attitude have brought everyone in awe of him. Additionally, the 20-time Grand Slam champion has come back from numerous injuries to dominate tournaments.

Legendary tennis coach Rick Macci, who has coached the likes of Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams, and others, has recently praised the Spaniard for his on-court displays.

What did Rick Macci say about Rafael Nadal?

The American tennis coach took to Twitter to praise the Spanish legend for his on-court displays. He said, “Nadal is a machine and every kid growing up should take a page from his playbook of focus dedication and being locked in.” 

After not playing for six months with a career-threatening foot injury, Nadal is having a dream start to this season. He is unbeaten this year and is on a nine-match winning streak, going into the finals of the Australian Open.

Before the opening Grand Slam of the season, the Spaniard lifted the Melbourne Summer Set title. Further, the Spaniard is into his 29th Grand Slam final after defeating Matteo Berrettini 6-3, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.

After his semifinal encounter, Nadal was emotional as he packed his kit bag, denoting what this victory meant to him. Further, he will take on the winner of Daniil Medvedev vs Stefanos Tsitsipas in the finals.
