Speaking more of the two contenders, two-time Major champion Sinner made it to the title clash after edging out Ben Shelton. He initially faced a slight challenge from the 22-year-old American. However, the Italian comfortably beat him 7-6(2), 6-2, 6-2.

Alexander Zverev may give a shocker to Jannik Sinner in Sunday’s Australian Open title clash

In an episode of Nothing Major podcast, Steve Johnson, a former American ATP prom, shared a strong feeling for the German. Supporting the 2018 ATP Finals winner, the ex-pro said, “I am gonna stick with that prediction to say Sascha gets it done.” Not just that, he even drew parallels with previous tennis legends and said, “He is arguably one of the best players to not have won a slam. Definitely active for sure, I am like the Berdych, Ferrers, some of those guys like Nishikori, guys that haven’t won a slam but I think he gets it done and yeah, I am excited to watch the match”

But Johnson’s not the only one backing Alexander Zverev over Jannik Sinner in 2025 Australian Open final. Former World No.1 Jim Courier also believes that the German has got the potential to rise to the occasion. According to him, Zverev can play more dominantly in the final compared to his performance in the SF against Djokovic, where he didn’t play show aggression. “I thought he played a very conservative match today, perhaps intentionally against Novak, who was struggling. He will have to play a far more structured match to beat Jannik Sinner.”

Per the Eurosport expert, “He will not be able to play conservative tennis and win” against the Fox. “Roger Federer rightly said last year, Sascha has everything, but one thing he needs to do in the big moments is to be more decisive.”

Sinner might be in a great form lately, but his h2h tally against Zverev is concerning. Out of the six encounters between them so far, the German is currently leading 4-2. Does that mean he’s got a chance to stun Sinner on Sunday at Rod Laver Arena? Only time will tell. What’s your prediction about the awaited battle? Let us know in the comments below.
