However, in more recent news, the Serb is not only bringing the heat for his coveted 25th title but also some drama from his recent match.

After his win over Jiri Lehecka, Djokovic skipped the customary on-court interview and faced boos from the crowd. He later revealed his reason, citing “insulting and offensive comments” made by a Channel 9 reporter outside the arena. Novak Djokovic sparks media feud ahead of fourth round

The tension began when Tony Jones made derogatory remarks about Novak Djokovic and his Serbian supporters. This occurred after Djokovic’s victory over Tomas Machac in the third round on Friday. In footage that circulated online, Jones mockingly suggested, “Novak, he’s overrated, Novak’s a has-been, Novak kick him out,” while addressing the crowd.

After his straight-sets victory, Djokovic declined to participate in the customary on-court interview with Jim Courier, opting instead to thank the crowd briefly before leaving to boos. He later clarified that his decision was a protest against Channel 9 and Jones’s comments. “A couple of days ago, a famous sports journalist who works for official broadcaster Channel 9 here in Australia made a mockery of Serbian fans and also made insulting and offensive comments towards me,” Djokovic explained in the post-match interview. He emphasized that he would not engage with Channel 9 until an apology was issued.

The update so far is that both Jones and Channel 9 have issued apologies for the incident, which may pave the way for Djokovic to resume interviews. While Djokovic expressed his respect for Courier, he noted that the situation was uncomfortable for him. With his focus now shifting to his quarterfinal match against Carlos Alcaraz on Tuesday, January 21, will the Serb channel this drama into motivation as he pursues his 25th Grand Slam title?
