On the other hand, Jannik Sinner has also defeated some of the elite competitors, including the US Open semifinalist Ben Shelton. Later, the Italian tennis phenomenon also came out on top in his matchup against his countryman, Lorenzo Sonego, in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4. The 22-year-old, who has already enjoyed three triumphant runs this season, including the recently concluded Beijing Open, is now a few steps away from yet another title.

This will not be the first time that the two ATP superstars will be facing each other at the indoor hard court event in Vienna. In 2021, Tiafoe secured a runner-up finish at the tournament after his semifinal victory against his young Italian opponent, 3-6, 7-5, 6-2. Apart from this, Tiafoe and Sinner also met each other at the Next Gen ATP Finals and European Open, with the latter prevailing on both occasions and currently enjoying a 2-1 lead in their H2H record.

Prediction: Sinner to win in straight sets

Even though both ATP players are in top form in this tournament, it is Jannik Sinner who will likely prevail in the blockbuster matchup. Being the second seed in the Vienna Open and based on his recent hard-court performances, the Italian is the favorite to not only win his quarterfinal match but also the title.
