The American tennis star entered the tournament as the 7th seed and was awarded a walkover after his British opponent, Dan Evans, picked up an injury in the first round. While having 38 wins from 57 matches in his bag this season, Frances Tiafoe also had some triumphant runs in Stuttgart and Houston. By winning two ATP singles titles this season, the current world No. 14 has now extended his total tally to 3.
Gaël Monfils, on the other hand, has marked his participation in the tournament after his title-winning run at the Stockholm Open. Entering the Vienna Open as an unseeded player, the veteran Frenchman swiftly brushed aside the German, Daniel Altmaier, in the first round of the event, 6-4, 6-4. The 37-year-old is now on a six-match winning streak after his lengthy absence from the tour.

Tiafoe’s explosive groundstrokes and athleticism will make him the favorite to win against his 37-year-old opponent, even if the latter is on a six-match winning streak and fresh off a title claim.
