Having booked his place in the ATP Finals, he is looking to display his hot run of form here in the Vienna Open as well.

The Russian player showed pure dominance in the match and ended it in just 75 minutes with a scoreline of 6-4, 6-2 to take the victory home. Standing next in his way was the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov. However, in that match, the world number 3 player had to pull in some extra effort. After going down in the first set, he bounced back in straight sets to take the victory home with a scoreline of 3-6, 6-2, 6-4.

On the other hand, his opponent, Karan Khachanov, faced little trouble pulling out of his second-round match. Facing Jiri Lehecka, Khachanov, despite losing 3 games in the first set, bounced back quickly to defeat his opponent 6-3, 6-1. With this, he also maintained a 30-15 record for the 2023 season.

Out of the 5 meetings that the two had, Medvedev has an 80% win record by winning 4 matches. The only win that came for Khachanov was back in 2018 when they faced each other in the Moscow semi-finals. However, when it comes to their most recent clash, the two locked horns in the Miami Open this year where they faced each other in the semi-finals of the tournament.

In that match, Medvedev proved to be a vital opponent for him as he clinched victory in a 3-set-thriller. The final scoreline of the match was 7-6, 3-6, 6-3 in favor of the number 3.
