The Delray Beach Open is an ATP 250 event held in Florida and mostly contested by American players. The tournament began earlier this week and will continue with the clash of Tommy Paul and Alex Michelsen. Both players need a win and will fight step-for-step. Both are also local favorites. Hence, the crowd will find it difficult to choose their favorite of the two.

Tommy Paul’s 2023 season was a mixed bag. He started the year with a bang and played till the semifinal of the Australian Open. After the run, his run in the following slams would not match his performance in Australia. He played in the finals of the Mexico Open and the Eastbourne International. He showed another fantastic performance in the Canadian Open with a semifinal run, defeating Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinal.

In 2024, Paul could not repeat her performance from last year in the Australian Open and lost after a long five-set battle. He would become a different player in the Dallas Open, where he managed to win the tournament. Now, he will play his first match in the Delray Beach Open.

Alex Michelsen turned professional in 2023 and has been on a quick rise since then. He played in the final of seven challenger tournaments and won three of them. Aside from Challenger tours, he managed to qualify for the main draw of the US Open and won his debut grand slam match. Coming to 2024, he lost in the first round of the Brisbane International, and a similar fate awaited him in the ASB Classics.
